Letter to the Hubbard City Cafe

From: Jim Hammock (Maxine's Boy)
Well the folks at the Drug Store tell me that MSNBC is saying the Tea Party movement is really about folks that hate having a Black President disguised as supporters of Fiscal Responsibility, Low Taxation, and Defict Reduction. Interesting that most analyst and pollster's thought being Black was a positive when Obama easily won the Presidential Election. I swear I don't know how you can have it both ways.
I do believe it is time we did discuss real racial issues.
Michelle Obama, our first lady, is focusing on bringing BIG GOVERNMENT's assistance to the country's obesity problem. The government is going to tell us how to eat and exercise. The justification for this meddling is that since taxpayers are paying for most health care then the government has the right to restrict those who are using more than their fair share. This is really interesting since the country's biggest obesity problem is BIG GOVERNMENT.
Makes me wonder what would happen if our first black president and first lady took on real problems like destroying big GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS that explode the black poverty rate which has not improved since 1960.
Martin Luther King was killed in 1968 after leading a civil rights effort based on the proposition that all people should be judged by their character and not the color of their skin. His logical hope and strong belief was that if he could get people to practice the equality of opportunity, that the poverty rate of blacks would dramatically improve. While some blacks have taken advantage of their new opportunities (the percentage of blacks with college degrees is three times greater than in 1970), far too many have not. Why should they when BIG GOVERNMENT is coming to their rescue with welfare, housing, foot stamps, medicaid, and racial preferenced employment practices? The more children out of wedlock, the bigger the check!
In 1970, two years after Dr. King's death, 62% of black women were married compared to 33% per cent today. 74% of black men were married compared to 44% today. In 1970 5% of black mothers were never married compared to 41% today. What happened? BIG GOVERNMENT.
Additionally, BIG GOVERNMENT's solution to racial equality was not built around faith based principles but around politics. Most of BIG GOVERNMENT's programs provided all the wrong incentives. The welfare state ran amuck, along with entitlements, transfer payments, and the politics of differences and envy. Redistribution of wealth was seen to many as a right for the underprivileged instead of providing the right of equal opportunity to earn through achievement.
MLK's religious passion for God's Laws were not a part of BIG GOVERNMENT's programs. Values like family (honor thy father and mother), property and ownership (thy shall not steal), and not taking from others (thy shall not covet) were not considered in BIG GOVERNMENT solutions where politicians have many times just been attempting to buy votes. Terms like "welfare pimps" have been used to describe political leaders who have taken advantage of blacks by keeping them dependent on government so that these so called pimps could gain and maintain power and wealth at the expense of blacks.
Most of these big government solutions such as welfare not only failed to support MLK's dream but actually provided incentives that destroyed families, discouraged education, and sabotaged work ethic.
As for Tea Parties, blacks would be smart, and prosper as well, to join the movement to get BIG GOVERNMENT off their backs.
In my feeble opinion the first Black Leader that joins people like Bill Cosby in stepping up to the real problems of race will be more popular after their election than before. Sadly, Obama ain't the guy.
You guys stay well and take care of Mom and Aunt Martha,
Jim

Ah, Ah, Ah, Obama Loses MoJo
Butch Jackson, analyzer of significant and insignificant events of some renown, stayed up all last night reviewing Obama's Healthcare Summit filibuster. Butch reports, "On a word count basis the current White House resident beat all of the accumulated Republican speakers hands down."
This count was challenged by Billy Roy Michum, current un-official but presently presiding Judge of the folks at the Hubbard City Cafe when not performing with his semi-famous C&W Band," Does your word count include the 'Ah, Ah, Ah, Ahs'."
"Good question," answered Butch. "I gave him half credit for the 'Ahs', which gave Barry a huge win in word count. Even without the 'Ahs', Barry wins by a slight margin. When you add in the word count of the other Dems, they beat the Republicans by about 4X1. It should also be noted that the Dems talked over a good 30% of the Republican words."
BM came back, "This semi-refutes the claim that Dems don't listen. You have to listen real careful to time your talk to talk over your opponent. It is not easy. Butch, what about content and fact checking?"
"Good question, you are red hot today BM. Obama's deepest subject was about trying to insure his clunker when he was on drugs in college. The meeting just lasted about 6 hours. and with the Republicans talking for almost 1 1/2 of those hours, Obama was not able to finish his clunker story to tie it into the Healthcare debate. I think we will have the conclusion of that story to look forward to in next year's state of the union address (if we still have a union by then). When it comes to facts, it is a fact that most of what Obama says without Mr. TelePrompter is semi-inaudible which makes fact checking real hard. Bottom line, folks were afraid that Obama was setting a trap and the Republicans would suffer a big loss. Didn't happen."
BM responded, "I'll tell you what's lost. Obama has lost his MoJo, big time. And we are a better country for it."
That got me thinking,
Jim

Cafe Semi-Inundated With Request to Join the Folks
Aunt Martha received a letter from an Austin Resident which she shared with the Folks at the Hubbard City Cafe.
Dear Hubbard City Cafe,
I was not born in Texas but I got here as soon as I could from the West Coast. I am a regular reader of your blog and the purpose of this letter is to request that you will make me sorta one of the folks at the Hubbard City Cafe. Here is my case for making this request:
In every man, woman and child on this planet, there is a person who wishes just once he could be a real live Texan from Hubbard City and get up on a horse or ride off in a pickup. There is a little bit of Hubbard, Texas in everyone.
Texas is the Alamo. Texas is 183 men standing in a church, facing thousands of illegal Mexican nationals, fighting for freedom, who had the chance to walk out and save themselves, but stayed instead to fight and die for the cause of freedom.
We send our kids to schools named William B. Travis and James Bowie and Davy Crockett, William B. Hubbard, and do you know why? Because those men saw a line in the sand and they decided to cross it and be heroes. John Wayne paid to do the movie himself. That is the Spirit of Texas Texas is Sam Houston kicking Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana's ass at San Jacinto.
Texas is having coffee every day but Sundays at the Hubbard City Cafe.
Texas is floating the rivers of the Hill Country or pulling a bass out of the Hubbard City Lakes on a hot summer day.
Texas is the beautiful, warm beaches of the Gulf Coast of South Texas.
Texas is that warm feeling you get when someone asks where you're from.
Texas is Mexican foods like nowhere else, not even Mexico.
Texas is Bush's fried chicken, Cheddar's chicken fried steak, and Tony or Jasper's Bar-B-Q.
Texas is larger-than-life legends like Michael DeBakey, Denton Cooley, Vince Young, Willie Nelson, Buddy Holly, Gene Autry, Audie Murphy, Don Meredith, Tommy Lee Jones, Waylon Jennings, Farrah Fawcet, Janis Joplin, Sandra Bullock, Kris Kristofferson, Tom Landry, Eva Longoria, Darrell Royal, ZZ Top, Colt McCoy, Eric Dickerson, Earl Campbell, Nolan Ryan, Sam Rayburn, Howard Hughes, George H. W. Bush, Lyndon B. Johnson, George W. Bush, and let's not forget GEORGE STRAIT- PANTERA, the Big Bopper, Tex Ritter, George Jones, Doak Walker, Bobby Lane, Wade Bowen, Billy Roy Michchum, to name ONLY a few.
Texas is great companies like Dell Computer, Texas Instruments, EDS and Compaq, Southwest Airlines, Bell Helicopter and LOCKHEED MARTIN AEROSPACE, Home of the F-16 Jet Fighter and the JSF Fighter, Valero. Texas is NASA and the Hubbard City Cafe.
Texas is a place where towns and cities shut down to watch the local high school football game on Friday nights and for the Cowboys on Monday Night Football at the new Texas Stadium.
We can become a republic again at any time the voters of Texas choose, and we included these things as part of the deal when we came on. That's the best part, right there.
GOD BLESS TEXAS
A Hubbard City Cafe Wannabe,
Gary Howard
Well, Aunt Martha then asked for a vote.
Butch turned to Billy Roy and asked, "What do you think?"
BM responded, "Nope, if we let him in, the others will want to come to. Our coffee pot is only so big. Damn good letter, though."
The vote against allowing semi-honorary membership based on this request was pretty much unanimous.
Think about it a lot,
Jim

Obama Says He Wasn't the First To Blame Bush
Same old news day after day: Obama is failing, and it's still George Bush's fault. Blame Bush and if that doesn't work, then say, "Well, George Bush did exactly the same thing that we are doing now." Interesting approach.
Meanwhile, as the folks were puzzling over how CO2 emissions from Scott Riddle's cattle were causing Global Warming which were resulting in record snow falls in Dallas and the Northeast (I know, who cares about the NE) while the same Global Warming is ruining the Winter Olympics in Vancouver because there is no snow (puzzling?), the following report came almost straight from the Obama White House. Aunt Martha read it to the folks:
Obama Releases Previously Semi-Unpublished Archives
Archives from Valley Forge
January 15, 1777
As 11,000 Continental troops suffered from freezing temperatures and hazardous winds while wintering at Valley Forge it is secretly recorded that General George Washington blamed global warming for the blizzard. The General feels global warming was caused by excessive CO2 emissions expelled from his troop's horses. It is the General's settled scientific belief that the excessive gas is caused by a stable boy's error in mixing horse feed. The blamed stable boy has been identified as Pfc George A. Bush. Private Bush was hanged on January 12, 1777.
Archives from Washington, D. C.
April 18, 1865
President Andrew Johnson, who switched to the Democratic party this week, wrote in his diary today that former President Abraham Lincoln's death was the result of his insurance company denying emergency coverage due to a pre-existing condition. When the emergency medical personnel arrived at Ford's Theatre, where President Lincoln was attending the play, "Our American Cousin", they ruled that the President had an existing gun shot wound received before their arrival. President Lincoln was denied medical care as a result by the blamed attending physician, Dr. George C. Bush. Dr. Bush was hanged April 17, 1865.
President Johnson also reported that the perpetrator was John Wilkes Booth, described as a right wing conservative ideologue who frequently attended Tea Party Events when not watching Fox News and socializing with the George D. Bush family whom he blamed for endoctrinating young Booth. The entire Bush family was hanged on April 17, 1865.
President Johnson then captured Booth personally and hung him by his private parts after forcefully removing his finger and toe nails. In doing so, President Johnson had temporarily suspended Booth's Miranda Rights as well as the US Constitution. President Johnson was quoted as saying, "Now that Lincoln's gone, we need to pass comprehensive health care, one of these days."
Archives from Washington D. C.
March 3, 1991
President George H. W. (Herbert Walker) Bush wrote in his diary today that he had ordered the Desert Storm troops to stop 150 miles from Baghdad today and not capture Saddam and his capital city after having driven the Iraqis out of Kuwait in just 100 hours of fighting. President Bush has admitted to confidants that he had blamed his decision based on a request made at the dinner table by his son, George W. Bush, who begged, "Dad, I want to do it myself when I am President." George H. W. Bush was hanged by the American Press in 1991, and did not serve a second term.
Archives from Washington D. C.
April 14, 2003
President George W. Bush recorded in his diary that he blamed his father, George Herbert Walker Bush, for the Second Gulf War. He said if General Colin Powell had captured Saddam and Baghdad in 1991 that the second war would not have been necessary. The Jr. Bush recalled that the decision to stop the Desert Storm troops came as the result of his Dad getting angry at George Jr. for misbehaving at the dinner table causing George Sr. to say,"O.K. smart ass, you clean up this mess when you are President." George W. Bush continues until this day to be hung by the American Press.
As Billy Roy says, "I don't know what the hell an archive is, but it must be true because it came from the White House. Now that I think about it, the gate on my fence ain't worked so good ever since W took office."
Thinking hard about it,

Cafe Advising Limbaugh and Republican Leaders
It seems everybody is listening to the Hubbard City Cafe Folks these days. Here is a copy of an email from Limbaugh after having received advice from the folks.
Here is a copy of the email you just sent to Rush Limbaugh, The Doctor of Democracy
Rush, I know you think the recently Obama requested Health Care meeting with Republican leaders is a trap. Based on your request, here is the strategy to turn the tables on Obama. Surprised you missed this one since it is so obvious and simple. When the Republicans meet with Obama on health care all they have to do is hold up the following poll and say, "The people have spoken."
"The American People want us to start from scratch to reform health care and throw away the existing two plans in the Senate and House. We Republicans are going to listen to the American people and not go against their will. If you insist on building on the existing plans that are rejected by the American People, you will go forward alone."
Rush, here is the Rassmusen poll.
Health Care Reform
61% Say Congress Should Start All Over Again on Health Care
Thursday, February 11, 2010
President Obama this week called for a televised bipartisan summit to get his health care reform plan back on track, but 61% of U.S. voters say Congress should scrap that plan and start all over again. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds just 28% who think it is better to build on the health care plan that has been working its way through the House and Senate. Support for and opposition to the existing plan remain at the same levels they’ve been at since just after Thanksgiving.
Only 35% of voters believe Congress should pass health care reform before the upcoming midterm elections anyway. Fifty-four percent (54%) say Congress should wait until voters select new congressional representatives in November.
Rush, call us anytime because we are always thinking,

Eric, Rahm, and Axelrod Make the New Idiot's List
Rush Limbaugh had it right last week when he said that if Obama is not an ideologue or socialist, as he claims, then that only means that he is an idiot. The Cafe had a "how are the idiots doing session" on Friday (see the 1/19/10 blog). Maxine and I viewed the session in person as I was an attentive visitor of some interest.
Butch kicked it off with a big fact about the big picture, "Pelosi, Reid, and Obama almost have their majority of voters. In 2009 47% of households will pay no taxes. That would be zero. Give em enough time, and they will have a majority of Americans as freeloading Dems. They gotta really be proud about that."
Billy Roy loves the Stimulaton of Clunkers program. "Because of the 'cash for clunkers' thing auto sales were down 23% in September. As for the Obama run companies GM was down 45% and Chrysler was down 42% according to the Wall Street Journal. I guess this is the kind of stimulation you can believe in, huh? No wonder these Chicago thugs are attacking Toyota. Makes me even think about buying one of those Japmobiles. You go Ford! Stay American!"
Joe Frank Dell is a Vet and loves the Navy Seals. He had the folks steaming like a tiny pot on a big stove with, "Petty Officers Matthew McCabe, Julio Huertas, and Jonathan Keefe are facing stupid charges over mishandling some Arab jerk named Ahmed Hashim Abed when they participated in the capture of this coward authorities believe is a most-wanted al Qaeda leader. Abed is the suspected mastermind of a 2004 ambush (of course) that killed four Blackwater security contractors – including a former SEAL – in Fallujah, Iraq. Military charges allegations against the SEAL3; among them, that McCabe is accused of punching this poor little sissy Abed in the stomach. Other charges include allegations that Huertas and Keefe covered up the incident. How in the hell can our boys protect us if they have this administration's politically correct lawyers acting like starving buzzards. The wrong folks are on trial. We should put Eric Holder on the hot seat for protecting, aiding, and abetting terrorists."
The folks added Holder, Emanuel, and Axelrod to the Top Ten:
1. Barry (despite the Commander in Chief's support of our country's "corpppsmen")
2. Eric Holder (attorney general vaults to this position as the terrorist's personal attorney going after those pesky Navy Seals)
3. Robert Gibbs (continues and continues to stack up idiot points big time defending lawyering up terrorists)
4. Nancy Pelosi (her spending is only surpassed by Barry himself)
5. Harry Reid (has been put in time out, maybe forever)
6. Bill Clinton (Hilary kept Bill on the list with her comments about the evils of organized religion at the National Prayer Day. Guess organized religion didn't stand by her man.)
7. Barney Frank (laying low but afraid we still remember him)
8. Henry Waxman (still looks and acts more like a weasel than weasels)
9. Rahm Emanuel (takes a real idiot to insult those with mental disabilities)
10. David Axelrod (with an advisor like this Barry is safe at the top)
Continues to be Disqualified: Joe Biden (considered as an "Off the Chart" idiot and unrankable eventhough new rumors are Barry will appoint him to the Supreme Court just to get him off the ticket)
I can personally report the folks are working hard for the rest of us folks. Also, am proud to announce the Hubbard Lady Jags beat Cayuga and will win the District Championship. The gym was raising the roof Friday night with the middle school band performing much better than the rock group, Who, performed at that other game.

Cafe Almost Endorses Al Cowan and the Colts
Well not surprisingly, the Hubbard City Cafe is inundated with requests to do everything from endorsing political candidates to picking winners in the Super Bowl according to Aunt Martha, semi-local librarian, author, poet, and editorial writer of some degree of influence. As much as the folks would like to help, they have only so much time when you consider the major issues of some importance that are addressed on an almost daily basis.
While not endorsing any candidates so as to keep their fair and semi-balanced reputation there are some candidates that are in favor with the folks at the cafe. One of those is Al Cowan who is seeking election to the U.S. House of Representatives in the Texas District 11 which includes cities like Marble Falls, Midland, Odessa, and San Angelo.
Al opposes big government, using tax payer money for bailouts and slush funds, and is for limiting the terms of congressman to return governance to the people. He has a business background and sees congressional service as a way to pay the country back for his good fortune.
As far as predicting the winning team in the Super Bowl, Aunt Martha says the folks would clearly make no predictions despite the fact that they believe the Colts Peyton Manning will lead an end of the game drive to outscore Drew Brees and his "Who's Dat Crew" by the score of 38-35.
I am still thinking about this one,
Jim
