A Message to Obama: A Rush To Democracy Is Not Always A Good Thing

As the press and Obama criticize Qaddafi for "murdering his own people" it makes me wonder what Obama would do if his opposition attacked a military base and took tanks and other weapons which they would use to attempt to overthrow the current government when not setting autos and buildings on fire. Would Obama "give in to the will of the people" or would he act more like Abe Lincoln when those peaceful Southern protesters wanted to go their own way? Just a thought.

Guess what? The rights of life, liberty, and property—are even more important than a short lived show of democracy. This coming from a God fearing conservative capitalist from Texas (that would be me).

Follow this closely. The US should do everything in our capability to lead international efforts in denying Arab mobs the right to overthrow USA friendly governments followed by elections. We should work to deny them until these Islamic countries can guarantee minorities their rights and until we are assured they can remain at peace with America and the Free World. Sound crazy? Not if we base our policies on what we have learned from history lessons with experiences in countries like Iran. John Bolton, former US Ambassador to the UN has learned from his experience when he speaks of elections in these Middle Eastern countries that want to get rid of their dictatorial leaders, "Participation in the elections, whenever scheduled, should be limited to real political parties. From Mussolini to Putin, from Hamas to Hezbollah, terrorists, totalitarians and their ilk masquerading as political parties do not really believe in representative government." Many times the end result is: one man, one vote, one time.

To move from a friendly dictator or monarchy to a totalitarian socialist or Islamic regime is to jump from the frying pan into the fire. And since the Middle East sits on top of 70% of the world's known oil reserves, a peaceful and stable political environment is critical to all. No one likes to admit that the Middle East is 'special' but it would be absurd to not admit it. The Free World, US included, is a long way from being self-sufficient in providing our own supplies of energy. If Obama has an energy policy it is a perverted plan to support his pals like Algore and George Soros in driving up the price of fossil fuels, limiting their production, and using tax money to make Algore and crew richer all behind the banner of Global Warming. Stratfor, the Austin based security consultant, says, 'We are now less concerned about popular protest than we are about the Iranians instigating events and for the Iranians taking out an oil competitor is a perfectly legitimate course of action from their point of view. And in this case we got roughly 10,000,000 barrels per day at potential risk primarily in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq."

In Egypt the Muslim Brotherhood will do everything possible to turn this revolt to their advantage—an advantage they will only press if the Egyptian army gives up power too quickly. Hopefully the Egyptian Military will move slowly and let real political parties emerge before they hold elections. Also, there is nothing wrong in banning dangerous parties from participating. For years the US banned the Communist Party. Of course, our leader in the White House says they, "must bring all of Egypt's voices to the table". This leaves us with our usual question about Obama. Is he naive, incompetent, or supporting the wrong side?

Again, it appears two more of our unarmed and unsecured soldiers were murdered by an Islamic Terrorist in Germany. The ABC News Bulletin read like this: Gunman Shouting 'Allah Akbar' Kills 2 US Airmen in Germany,' by Luis Martinez and Richard Esposito for ABC News, March 2.: A gunman shouting 'Allah Akbar' opened fire on a bus carrying U.S. airmen in Frankfurt, Germany, killing two and wounding two others before his gun jammed and he was subdued, officials said.

An ethnic Albanian from Germany was taken into custody and the FBI was heading an investigation because U.S. citizens were killed to determine whether the shooting was an act of terrorism. It is not clear even what they mean by that at this point. What actually would constitute a terrorist attack? Would the murderer have to announce that he was about to carry out a terrorist attack before he started shooting? Would he have to be carrying an al-Qaeda membership card as he cried, "Allah Akbar" and possibly "Jihad, jihad." It was a jihad attack. But of course the Obama administration has canceled our 'war on terror' and is treating it like just regular criminal investigations and prosecutions.  They refuse to call this a terrorist attack. They never learn. While the Homeland Security analysts secretly classified the Fort Hood shooting a terrorist attack within 48 hours, it was 7 weeks before Obama’s administration would admit it. Again we have to ask is he naïve, incompetent, or shielding radical Muslims for some reason. None of these choices are acceptable to describe the once leader of the free world.

Think about it,

TUFF is for Everyone Except the Political Elite

Billy Roy commented on some of my emails from PHD types who think the folks at the Hubbard City Cafe are uneducated and bigoted. Billy Roy says, "A blockhead is defined as 'a stupid person'. None other than Benjamin Franklyn nailed it when he said, 'A learned blockhead is a greater blockhead than an ignorant one'. Seems many times the Communists and Progressives are led by the educated political elites who think if they can get in charge they can make everything OK (at least for themselves). Elites being people like Obama who spent years drugged out as other people paid for several levels of his alleged education. The real elite like Obama don't even have to get transcripts or diplomas or anything like that. Hell, I would rather look for Jimmy Hoffa's body than try to find Obama's transcript from Columbia. Of course to get elected they have to buy folks off. Much of what they buy them off with, we who live in cow country, would call bullshit. Guess we should talk about TAXPAYERS some since that guy in the parking lot is carrying that sign with 'TUFF HQS' on it.

So the political elite want to separate the folks into the makers (TAXPAYERS) and the takers (those who think they are getting more than they are giving), and of course, the political elite care so much about the poor folks they will take care of them. Elites like Castro, Stalin, Mao, Chavez, etc. have a proven track record of 'taking care of the folks'."

Oops, as is apt to happen when Billy Roy kicks things off, here comes Butch, "For example some voters are led to believe that Obama will tax the rich and help the 'middle class' which many feel are those who don't pay taxes. If you look at income taxes alone there is some truth to this. In 2009, 47% of the US households paid no taxes and many got money back. A family with two children making $50,000 paid no income taxes. These family's making $25,000 paid no income taxes and got a check for $7,085. However, if you include Social Security taxes, only 24% of households pay no taxes. What those hoping to avoid taxes don't get is they are still taxed plenty. There are hundreds of other ways the government gets us all such as sales taxes, energy taxes, license fees, real estate taxes, death taxes, lotteries, and the biggest one of all is in the regulation area. Every time the government passes a regulation that increases the price of any product this increase is passed along to the consumer.

The Libs also love to lie about how the rich are making out like bandits, and each year it gets worse in favor of the wealthy. The facts are in 1987 the top 5% of taxpayers paid 43% of all income taxes. In 2008 the top 5% paid 58% of all income taxes. The top 10% pay 70%. In fact the United States depend on the top 10% of TAXPAYERS for their revenues more than any other country in the world according to the Tax Foundation. The top 50% pay 97%.

Obama still wants to raise taxes on all married couples earning over $250,000 and singles making over $200,000 despite the fact that 25% of all spending comes from this group. Honest estimates are that raising taxes on this group, which includes most small business owners, would cost 770,000 jobs within 12 months from the increase.

If we continue to over tax those who spend and hire they tend to hit the road. TAXPAYERS in states like New York and California are flocking to states like Texas. Wealthy people are leaving the country for friendlier lower-taxed countries. An ex-patriate attorney says he alone has 100 applications pending at this time. This is more than the previous 18 years combined."

Billy Roy rescued the folks from the number crunching, "Back to the Bullshit. The unions and Obama are spewing it around all the state capitals now. They don't want folks to know that government unions are inherently different from private-sector unions. The purpose of private-sector unions is to get workers a larger share of the profits they helped create. But government is a monopoly and earns no profits. All government unions do is redistribute more tax dollars from taxpayers to unions to crooked politicians. The left used to understand this. Not only did President Franklin Delano Roosevelt write in 1937: 'All government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service,' but as recently as 1959, the AFL-CIO Executive Council stated that 'government workers have no right [to collectively bargain] beyond the authority to petition Congress—a right available to every citizen'. And of course even Jimmy Carter passed legislation that stands to this day that federal workers can not collectively bargain. Folks, these are the people working for Obama today.  And yet he wants to force unions on the states and local governments.  It never ceases to amaze me how dumb Obama thinks we are."

"Seems to me that it might make sense to think about these TUFF guys (TAXPAYERS UNION FOR the FOLKS) at least a little bit."

TAXPAYER UNION FOR the FOLKS (TUFF)

Scotty Anderson came in with an interesting comment this week, "Don't know why people don't try Jesus because if they don't like it, the devil will always take em back."  Made a lot of sense to me.  This seemed like a pretty logical way to introduce a major new political movement that will be headquartered right here in the Hubbard City Cafe, except on Sundays of course.  Two or three folks have been marching in the parking lot for the last couple of days demanding the folks get TUFF.  Under questioning this writer was able to find out that TUFF is the secret code name for TAXPAYERS UNION FOR the FOLKS.

Not knowing at the present time whether this is an idea that will catch on or not, it seems this idea is currently an orphan in that no one is claiming the very origination of such.  Those of us that have been following the Cafe for some time feel like it smells a little like something Butch might have started with a wink from Billy Roy himself.  Under further questioning it seems many the of folks are beginning to feel like everybody has somebody representing their interest except those few people who actually PAY TAXES.  For example when mostly Republicans want to make a tax cut which seems like it would enable folks to keep what really is some of their own money, mostly the other side being Democrats say "it isn't paid for".  In other words you have to tax somebody else to make up for not taxing those who got the cut.  Seems these government people believe it is their money not TAXPAYER'S money that  has to be paid for.

Then you have this "public employee" thing going on in most of the Yankee States.  Teachers, cops, firemen, and other people who are paid by TAXPAYERS are made to join unions, that is if they want to work.  The unions make the states take dues out of the workers checks.  They unions keep a big part of the money, and then bribe politicians with the rest with what they call political contributions.  Then the bribed politicians negotiate with the unions to raise salaries and give away pensions and health care to the people who are supposed to be public servants.  All of this is paid for by TAXPAYERS.  We have been around and round this little "circle of corruption" so many times now that the "public employees" make 30% higher salaries on average and 70% better pensions and health care than "private sector" folks (that would be the real TAXPAYERS).  Union leaders say public servants pay taxes too.  What they don't say is that they pay their taxes with the money they get from TAXPAYERS.  The more taxes they pay the more money the union and politicians will get for them from TAXPAYERS.

In the worst cases, we have been around these circles so many times that some cops can retire at the age of 41.  Now I like policeman but I also like them working a little longer than that.  Most of these Yankee states, and even some of those in the South, are completely bankrupt.  They have "unfunded liabilities".  This is fancy talk for they have promised pensions and health care for retired employees, and they don't have the money to pay them. Guess they didn't put the money away in the "lock box" that Algore used to lie about.  Who would have thought that politicians and union leaders would have lied to the folks about the promised pensions that someone else would have to pay after those who made the promises were long gone.  As they say at the Cafe, "now the shit has hit the fan".

The unions do other little things like giving teachers "seniority" after only three years.  This means they can not be fired no matter how bad they are at teaching or not teaching our kids.  If you are to be laid off, you have to be given at least a 7 month notice in some states.  Union members have no say so as to which politicians get the contributions.   Not even which political party.  So many of the folks are contributing to politicians that they don't even vote for.  And of course in many states a new cop, fireman, or teacher has no choice as to whether they want to join the union.  Unions will not allow local schools to use "merit pay plans" to compensate good teachers and incent bad teachers to get better.  So who do you think the unions are working for, their dues payers or the kids and TAXPAYERS.

The folks at the cafe have studied this public sector "circle of corruption" real closely.  They are unable at this date to find who in this circle represents the TAXPAYERS.  The guys newly elected to governorships in Wisconsin, Ohio, and New Jersey are trying to change some of this stuff.  Even the Democratic governors in New York and California are having to show some concern due to their impending bankrupcies.  And what do the press and unions accuse them of doing?  "Union Busting".  They are called names like Hitler and Dictator.  Demonstrators are marching against them saying the teachers only care about the kids.  I guess the cops only care about the crooks, and the fireman only care about the fires.  My Great Grand Mother, Meemaw, used to tell me, "if you lay down with the dogs, you get fleas".  Public employees have been laying down with politicians and union thugs, and now they are filthy and itching all over, and with open sores at that.  It is a shame too, because there are a lot of good cops, fireman, and teachers (even in the Yankee states).   The truth is their greed has made them lose they way.  This system is corrupt and wrong by any one's standards.  We have ignored the evil of public sector collective bargaining for too long.

What a terrible example our public employees are setting for the kids.  Liberty is freedom with responsibilities.  Public employees are not free, nor responsible when they are serving the unions thugs and sleazy politicians at the expense of TAXPAYERS and the public.

Back to TUFF.  When I ask what the folks are planning to do first, they answered, "Not sure but we might just collectively bargain (heard this on TV).  Maybe we don't pay our taxes until the government quits spending more money than they have.  You know.  Stuff like that.  Or maybe we quit paying our school taxes if our teachers are working for unions instead of us.  Seems like if all the TAXPAYERS did little things like that, the politicians might pay us a little attention, too."

Thinking about a little TUFF love,

Jim
