Lies, Lies, Lies: But What Does It Matter?

In a world dominated by Lance Armstrongs and Barrack Obamas it appears the general consensus is that everyone lies. Given the publics acceptance of deceit as an accepted way of life we now spend our time "judging" the deception. This week when Ray Lewis was accused of using an illegal substance (antler juice) to speed up the recovery of  his football injury sportswriters spent an  excessive amount of ink determining just "how strong was his denial?".   It appears we don't care anymore if things are true or untrue.  We just try to analyze and argue about how untrue things are and how much it matters.

As the most respected woman in the world, and maybe the next President of the United States, said last week, "What does it matter?" She argued that a bad thing happened and let's move on. So our President and his top officials lied because the truth would not support something we now call a "narrative". What difference does it make? So the narrative of a "soft approach" to Muslim Terrorists resulted in our American Ambassador and his aide plus two former seals, who attempted a heroic rescue, died. What difference does it make?

So Algore attempted to make a fortune with a new TV network to espouse his green energy scam, and it didn't work. And so he unloaded "Current" for a personal gain of $100,000,000 to Al Jezeera. Yep, the same Al Jezeera that has for years been the mouthpiece of Al Queda and any other Muslim Brotherhood terrorists group that wanted to spew hatred of the Non-Muslim world. So Algore now says. "Al Jezeera has established itself as an effective and distinguished news organization." No lies in that statement, right?  And of course money has nothing to do with it.  Algore is just serving the public.

So another public servant, Colin Powell, says he is a Republican and is Black. So 80% of Republicans voted for Romney. So over 90% of Blacks voted for Obama. So Powell voted for Obama (twice) and so he gets furious when someone might question whether he voted that way because of race. He says he liked Obama's economic policies and there is a "vein of racism that runs through the Republican party". His evidence is that a Republican Senator said Obama was "lazy". How truthful is Colin's narrative?  This vein of racism did not get in Colin's way as he moved through the Republican ranks to the office of Secretary of State.  Oh yes, he also was the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff.  First Black in those positions.  Oh yes, and this happened with the sponsorship of a Republican President.  Hard to believe Powell, a true Republican, liked Obama's economic policies the first four years.  Unbelievable that he liked them after the first term.  Would it be racist for me to say Colin Powell is full of sh-t.

How do we discuss lies and leave out Bill Clinton? His Democratic opponent and former war hero, Bob Kerrey, in his first primary warned us when he said, “Clinton’s an unusually good liar. Unusually good. Do you realize that?” And of course as President, he pointed that famous finger at the world and said, "I did not have sex with that woman." Then that darned blue dress tripped him up. But of course the world didn't care because it was just about sex, and it wasn't their daughter who was trusted to adults while interning in the White House. This is probably where Hillary learned the "What difference does it make?" No not really. She learned that years before in Arkansas when Good Old Truthful Bill was assaulting other women.

What is it that today's society doesn't get about "THY SHALT NOT LIE"?

How does a young married couple teach their children to tell the truth? Do they need to teach their children to tell the truth? Are young couples even trying today? And then the big question, how many children have a couple of parents today to teach them anything?

Well many of us remember when George Washington cut down that cherry tree, and when we called our then President, Honest Abe.  They were examples for us all.  (OK, to be truthful, maybe we don't remember but were told about George and Abe)

Are truths important today?  The truth is life begins at conception. If we practiced the truth we would admit things like abortion is the taking of a defenseless life instead of a woman's right to choose. The truth is not one law recommended by our politicians to date would have stopped the shooting of our six year olds at Newtown. The truth is Obama's economic policies and mandates are intended to diminish our economy not improve it. The same truth applies to his actions to diminish our military. Ditto for Obama's actions regarding our religious freedoms.

So where can young couples, and even Obama, find the truth? Here it is: "I am the way, the truth, and the life..."  John 14:6.  Jesus Christ said of God the Father, “Your word is truth.” John 17:17  True even in the modern world?  And “His truth endureth to all generations.” Psalms 100:5

Even Kings have their problems before they find the truth.  King David writes, “Lord, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill? He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbour no wrong and casts no slur on his fellow-man … [and] who keeps his oath even when it hurts.” Psalms 15:1-3

None of us are this perfect nor will we ever be.  But we can sure at least try.

Think about it,
