July 4, A Day of Mourning?

It was Friday and evidently Billy Roy Mitchum came into the cafe in a really bad mood.  Maybe approaching the 4th of July holiday it occurred to him that current Americans are consenting to lose  freedoms that earlier Americans shed real blood to gain.  BM just gave what some might call a speech.

"It's the same old question. Is Obama stupid and screwing things up because he doesn't know better or is he dumb like a Fox and hellbent on destroying the United States of America? While we can argue about motive, what is not in question is the fact that the US, under his leadership, is getting our ass kicked by other nations in the World Economy. An economy that was created through this nation's leadership based on  principles of capitalism and free trade."

"For companies to compete in today's environment they face battles over the harnessing of technology, access to scarce resources such as energy, precious human capital, and favorable business environments (that would be low tax rates and reasonable government regulations)."

This week's press pout by Obama touched on these subjects. Our President was so immature, partisan, and deceitful that even an MSNBC commentator said, 'he acted like a Dick'. Among other arrogant remarks the President who acts like a young punk when not reading a teleprompter said, 'that the business community is always complaining about regulations. When unemployment is at 3 percent and they're making record profits, they're going to still complain about regulations because, frankly, they want to be able to do whatever they think is going to maximize their profits.' Barack Hussein Obama obviously believes that evil American busy leaders, if unchecked by his wonderful administration, would drop all ethics to 'do whatever they think is going to maximize their profits.' As Obama has shown with his budget management his hatred of  profits is only exceeded by his hatred of successful business people.  You know the kind of producers that have made the US the greatest country in history."

"In the same set of socialist rants, Obama credited his administration with having undertaken an 'unprecedented' effort to review the country’s regulatory structure – including both proposed rules and those 'already on the books' – to determine, as the president put it, whether there is 'a tangle of regulations out there that are preventing businesses from growing and expanding as quickly as they should'.  What crap!"

"A bit later, while discussing Boeing’s battle with the National Labor Relations Board over the site of a new plant, Obama said he hopes 'everybody steps back for a second and says, look, if jobs are being created here in the United States, let’s make sure that we’re encouraging that…at a time when we’re competing against Germany and China and other countries that want to sell goods all around the world'.  Who does he think the NLRB reports to?”

"Well at least Obama does recognize there's no question today that almost every business is global. So the whole question about outsourcing is: Where's the best business environment? I'm sure that corporations don't sit around…and think, ‘Where can we make our investments in other parts of the world, just because we want to?’ It's all about the business environment, the taxes and regulations.”

So how is Obama doing in his efforts to make the US more competitive?  One guess. It ain't pretty. In 2010 the World Bank’s annual 'Doing Business' survey, which ranks 183 economies on key aspects of regulation for domestic firms, found Singapore to be the world’s friendliest regulatory environment, followed by Hong Kong, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States. This fifth-place ranking represented a decline for the U.S., which in the 2009 survey ranked third – and it showed America bucking a worldwide trend."

"That trend has seen 85 percent of the world’s economies take steps over the last five years to make it easier for local entrepreneurs to operate. Yet separate studies by the World Bank and the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor show we are in the 15% who are making it harder for entrepreneurs.  Both concluded that American entrepreneurs are facing a trend of more and more red tape.  And Obama is just getting warmed up.  Add to that the tens of thousands of pages of regulations still being written as a consequence of the Obama administration’s enactment of legislative reforms to Obamacare and financial service sectors, and the American regulatory structure would appear only to be growing exponentially (that is real fast for those of you in Mr. Calm)."

“Even the academics admit we are in trouble and on the wrong track.  'If you had asked me this ten years ago, I would’ve told you, America is the place to start a business,' said Veronique de Rugy, an economist at George Mason University’s Mercatus Center. 'It’s not true anymore today. I think the gap, basically, between even European countries and America has shrunk dramatically in the last ten years, and in particular in the last three years. I cannot tell you how badly we will fare once the financial regulation that was passed last year will all have been implemented.' Remember, Republicans lost control in 2007.  Give Obama four more years and it could be game over.”

"What is unbelievable is that even admittedly Socialist Countries are beating us.  Among the world’s fastest surging economies are those of the so-called BRIC countries: Brazil, Russia (Commies), India, and China (More Commies). Those last two nations rank among the top forty most-improved countries, in terms of their regulatory climate, over the last five years."

“If you're a businessperson thinking of investing, you may look at China and you say, ‘Well, there's some regulatory problems (Commies), there's some intellectual property problems (the government steals your secrets); but boy, this market is growing at 10 percent a year. I'm going to invest [there].’ Whereas the only things growing in the US are our regulations and debt…China and India start to look like very attractive markets.”

And all the folks at the Cafe on this day said, "Damn."

Lizards and Prairie Chickens at Front Row of Obama Press Conference

Why were lizards and prairie chickens applauding so loudly at the Obama's press conference?

When Obama speaks, Butch Jackson is like a kid in a candy store, "Everybody tells me how smart Obama is. If that is true, I would assume he knows what he is doing. If he does know, he must know that we folks are just getting dumber and dumber because it would take a complete idiot to accept his solutions to this country's problems. Take his press conference today; he says that he and Old Joe Biden are in agreement with Republicans on a $1 Trillion reduction in government spending. He gives no details of course except to say that a considerable amount will come from Defense spending. The first thing any dummy would ask, even though no reporter did, is 'when would these cuts be made?’ This gets at Obama's old trick of spreading his cuts over long periods (usually starting when he is out of office) and  many times extending over10 years.  And yet we are in our third year of running deficits of $1.7 Billion annually. That would be each and every year for those of you in Mr. Calm. We need cuts of at least $1.7 Trillion over the next 12 months not 12 years."

"Next the genius in chief then rants about Republicans fighting against a balanced approach of increased revenues to go with spending cuts. He would increase revenues by eliminating corporate manufacturing tax credits on, of all things, oil companies who would just turn around and raise gasoline prices resulting in a tax on all of us. And it is peanuts. $21 Billion over 10 years or $2 Billion a year against a $1.7 Trillion deficit. That is 1/10 of 1% of the cuts that need to be made.  And yet consumers will feel it at the pump.”

“But there is more. He wants to eliminate the tax credit THAT HE GAVE CORPORATE JET BUYERS IN HIS SIMULUS PACKAGE IN 2009. You heard me. Just a few months after lawmakers scolded auto executives for flying to Washington in private jets, Congress approved a tax break in the stimulus package to help businesses buy their own planes. The aviation industry, which was cutting jobs as it suffered from declining shipments and canceled orders received an economic-stimulus bill signed by President Barack Obama to persuade more companies to buy planes and snap a slump in general aviation that began in his first year in office. 'This is exactly the type of financial incentive that should be included in a stimulus bill,' said Rep. Todd Tiahrt, R-Kan. in an interview. His state lost at least 6,900 jobs at Cessna and Hawker Beechcraft, both based in Wichita in the recession. I guess they don't need stimulating anymore. And of course when these tax breaks go away the sale of jets will suffer, jobs will be lost, and the government will not receive any additional taxes which was Obama's dumb idea in the first place. This will result in a whopping 0% reduction in the $1.7 Trillion deficit. Folks, you could not make this stuff up!"

"And Obama called a press conference to try to sell idiots on eliminating these two tax credits? The answer is NO. Obama used these to get idiots to believe that Republicans are protectors of Big Oil and Big Fat Rich Guys who fly Big Fat Corporate Jets (like he and Michelle do) while Mr. Wonderful is looking out after the folks helping them with college loans and keeping their food from being  poisoned by farmers and food manufacturers."  SIDE NOTE:  What would you think if a stranger came to town and told you for only a small tax on everything you do that he would protect your AIR?  That's what the Feds do--big time.

Billy Roy Mitchum, un-official Chairman of The Hubbard City CafĂ© located West of the Intersection (Red Light) on Magnolia Avenue (Main Street) had waited as long as he could, "That brings up my favorite. Obama got a question about the National Labor Relations Board blocking Boeing's rights to build a plant in the Carolinas because they are a right to work state.   Obama gave one of this typical non-answers,'he was all for reigning in government regulations as long as he was able to fulfill his obligation to protect our food, water, and air'. What a guy? In realty Obama's Interior Department has cost Californians alone thousands of jobs while idling a quarter of a million acres of farmland turning them into a dust bowl. The feds have diverted 200 billion gallons of water to the Pacific Ocean from California's Central Valley. Why? To protect the Delta smelt. A stinking fish. Additionally, it has put thousands of ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS in the Central Valley out of work placing severe welfare issues on local communities. This is a perfect example of what happens when the Federal Government has two corrupted programs collide (Not enforcing Immigration Laws and over-regulating under the banner of protecting the environment) ."

"Meanwhile, Texas and New Mexico are fighting the same Interior Department who is trying to add the sagebrush lizard and the prairie chicken to the Endangered Species List. Interior wants to prevent the development of oil and gas production which they claim would disrupt the reproduction (sex lives) of such animals. The American Petroleum Institute estimates that the Interior Department’s plan to put more areas of the Outer Continental Shelf off limits will costs 75,000 jobs and $91 Billion in government revenue. Now what does any of this have to do with our air, food, and water? Under the banner of protecting the environment the looters enable Algore and Obama's Green Scam. That's what it is about. I aint that smart and if I can see through it, what is wrong with the folks that put these jerks in office? I’d like to stuff a lizard or prairie chicken where the sun don’t shine up some of these bureaucrats."

Have No Fear, Obama and the White Horse Are Coming, Again

With gasoline prices approaching $4 a gallon and even rising faster than Obama's approval numbers were falling someone teleprompted our President to tap into the nations Oil Reserves by calling his political woes a crisis. So he rides in on his White Horse and releases the equivalence of two days of American oil usage, timing it with the falling of prices, and declares another victory by the "one who cares".

And then, and then, I repeat, and then, our puppet hero decides to mount the White Horse again and save the negotiations between Dems and Republicans to reduce the deficit and increase the debt ceiling. Our leader takes a handoff from Biden and has this great idea to reduce the big old fat Bush deficit by doing away with big oil subsidies for big oil companies that the big old fat and rich Republicans love. The Prez wants to trade these off against Republican spending cuts in what he calls a 'balanced plan'. If he can pull this off he can raise the nation's debt ceiling and continue borrowing and spending as part of his 2012 election campaign with a minuscule spending cut. If he is really successful a big part of the spending cut can come from defense since many Republicans are furious over Obama's surrender in Afghanistan and boondoggle in Libya.

Like anything else Obama does, the plan has massive problems only to be surpassed by Obama's deceit.

First the big oil subsidies are not subsidies at all nor or they for big oil alone. If dropped the tax increases would be an elimination of a tax credit which was enacted in 2004 and applies to all domestic manufacturers, not just oil and gas companies. It was designed to increase competitiveness in the face of the U.S.’s 35 percent corporate tax rate, among the highest in the developed world. Democrats have been trying to eliminate these tax credits for the five biggest oil producers. These companies just happened to earn a combined $36 billion in the first quarter of this year. Of course these companies will only raise their prices if Obama is successful which will result in a 'tax increase' for consumers as our price at the pump increases. This could all happen within a two week period of the Dummy in Chief declaring the price of gasoline a national emergency. Again down is up and night is day in Obamaworld. Why would he release precious oil from the national emergency reserve to reduce prices only to turn and increase taxes on gasoline resulting in price increases? The answer, he thinks we are that stupid.

The obvious desired end result by the President is to drive up fossil fuel prices to help Algore, GE, and the Green Scam Machine while doing everything possible to avoid spending cuts to Obama's Moochers. And of course as a by product, it will be another Intelligence Test for the Republicans. Remember how they failed miserably in the last test which was about 'shutting down the government'.

And of course the numbers don't lie. That savings from this tax increase on gasoline buyers, if there is savings at all, will potentially gain $21 billion over 10 years in revenue which is a drop in the bucket compared to the Trillion Dollar deficits they have run in Obama's first three years. All of this huffing and puffing is just so Washington can continue to kick the Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, and Obamacare spending cans down the road for our children to handle in their new world of Socialism.

The sad truth is the Petroleum Industry could really help our nation with the deficit. Anyone with any business knowledge knows the solution is more oil and gas production which would result in more revenue for the federal government and more jobs for the U.S. economy. What would Obama have to do to make this happen? HE NEEDS TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. THIS SINGLE ACT ALONE WOULD SOLVE MOST OF THIS COUNTRY'S PROBLEMS.

Think about it,

Jim

P.S. What was the national emergency that would send at great expense the First Lady, family, and entourage to South Africa for what appeared to be a safari vacation for the girls. She did have time to give a speech in which she gave credit to South Africa for fighting racial discrimination and leading the way for her husband's election to the office of President of the United States. Not mentioned by the first lady was South Africa's record as a world leader in murder, assault, and rape, not to mention, unemployment rates in excess of 25%.  What a great nation to be following!
