My First Hand News Report from Hubbard

Sue and I spent Thursday through Sunday in Hubbard so this news comes "first hand".

Posted on the Bulletin Board at the Hubbard City Cafe:

COWS, CALVES : NEVER BRED.
Also 1 gay bull for sale.

EMS Report:

There was a terrible accident in Hubbard last Saturday night. It seems Johnney Lee Jones had his seven grandsons over for their monthly fried chicken dinner during a thunderstorm. As they were finishing their meal it was reported that one piece of chicken was left on the platter when all the lights went 0ff. The EMS folks said they took Grandpa Jones to the Waco hospital with seven fork wounds in his hand.

No DUIs in Hubbard

There have been no DUIs in Hubbard since the only local bar opened next door to the pizza shop. When I asked Butch Jackson, how come? He replied, "When someone is too drunk to drive, they walk to the pizza shop and place an order. When they go to deliver it, you catch a ride home with them."

911 Freedom March

Eight years ago while Osama bin Laden hid in a cave in Pakistan while his radical Muslim murderers killed 3,000 people from 90 different countries indiscriminately, our President George W. Bush was meeting with Elementary School children in Florida. What a contrast!

Well, I met with Hubbard's kids from K to 12 at a Freedom March in town center on Friday. How heart warming to see high schoolers carrying 5 and 6 year olds on their shoulders, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to both the U. S. and Texas flags, the band playing the National Anthem, and all paying tribute to our veterans and military. In fact 4 award winning students read their papers entitled "Interviewing a Veteran". Most of the stories were about their Granddads, and all were well written and tears flowed.

The Hubbard teachers, principals, and superintendent were very engaged while providing support and leadership that was admirable. By the way, the student's conduct was terrific. With so much criticism of our school systems today it is great to see real dedication and professionalism. Hubbard's children are in good hands while at school if they can survive this little federal deficit that our generation is creating and our kids are inheriting.

And now my criticism. There were far too few townspeople, ministers, and parents at the Freedom March. The future of our country is in the hands of these children. Folks we need to get off our butts and support the kids and their teachers.

The children and teachers are remembering 911. They are doing everything they can to avoid a repeat of this terrorist act. Are we?

Think about it,

Jim
