Obama-Lies #1 "Unemployent Rate Is Improving"

As we approach the 2012 Presidential Election it is clear that Obama, Axelrod, and crew will use Lies, Lies, and More Lies to fire up their base and to attempt to win over the “leaners” in the middle. They will use several techniques including “cherry picking”. It is my strong belief that we all must do everything we can to equip our patriots with the facts. Therefore, I am using this email as an experiment. My experiment follows:


1. I will draft factual responses to the Obama-Lies. (I encourage each of you to send me your suggestions)
2. I will forward these drafts to my email list made up of Hubbard City Café Bloggers
3. I am requesting that you forward these drafts to your distribution lists encouraging them to do the same.
4. I request that you “reply” to my emails by informing me of the number of people that are reached by your distribution. You should request your distribution to do the same so we can get good distribution estimates.
5. If we follow through on this process, the drafts can go “virile” and hopefully have a real impact.

My initial distribution will start with 130 names.

The first Obama-Lies draft is presented below. This draft is longer and more detailed than most will be because it is an expose of Obama’s lies regarding our reported and “cherry picked” unemployment rate. An expanded version will be posted on the hubbardcity.blogspot.com as well.

“UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IMPROVING.”

“FORWARD, DON’T STOP US NOW!”

Historians tell us no President has ever been re-elected with an UNEMPLOYMENT RATE over 8%. The current published rate is 8.1% as of May 5, 2012. Real close, huh?

The unemployment rate when Obama entered office in 2008 was 5.8%. It increased to the high near 9.6% in the year 2010, and has been reported to have improved to 9% beginning in 2011 to 8.3% beginning in 2012. Each month this year it seems to go down by .1%. You figure it out! Looks like it will just go under the key 8.0% rate by November. Whew, Dems can say at election time, “That was a close one, huh?”

When you look at the details, however, there is a problem. Obama’s Department of Labor is “COOKING THE BOOKS”! Here is how it works.

When Obama entered office the Civilian Population of the United States was approximately 234.6 million people. The percentage the Department of Labor (under George Bush) calculated as being in the Work Force was 155 million or 66.1% of the Population (called the participation rate). Today, the population has increased by 8.1 million people, and yet the Obama DOL reports the Work Force has shrunk by 647 thousand workers. They report that only 63.6% of the Population (called the participation rate) is in the Work Force.

Bush’s DOL reported that 145.5 million workers were employed and 9.5 million were unemployed and the rate of unemployment was 6.1%. Obama reports today 139.6 million (almost 6 million fewer) are employed and 13.8 million are unemployed (4.3 million more). Not a pretty picture.

Yet, because Obama reduces the estimated Work Force each reporting period he shows improvement in the Unemployment metric. The punch line is this. IF OBAMA USED THE SAME PARTICIPATION RATE AS BUSH (AND WASN’T COOKING THE BOOKS) TODAY’S UNEMPLOYMENT RATE WOULD BE A TRUE…….13% INSTEAD OF THE REPORTED 8.1% (SOON TO BE UNDER 8%).

THE LOGIC IS SIMPLE. IF THERE ARE FEWER PEOPLE IN THE WORK FORCE THAN THE PERCENTAGE OF THOSE UNEMPLOYED IS SMALLER THE MATH WORKS LIKE THIS. IF I HAVE 100 PEOPLE IN THE WORK FORCE AND 80 ARE EMPLOYED MY UNEMPLOYMENT PERCENTAGE IS 20%. IF IN THE NEXT REPORTING PERIOD I REDUCE THE WORK FORCE TO 90 AND 80 ARE EMPLOYED MY UNEMPLOYMENT PERCENTAGE GOES DOWN TO 11%. THE LIARS CAN MAKE THE NUMBER ANYTHING THEY WISH JUST BY ADJUSTING THE PARTICIPATION PERCENTAGE.

GOT IT. JUST AS YOU KNEW, THESE PEOPLE MAKE BILL CLINTON LOOK MINOR LEAGURE WHEN IT COMES TO DISTORTING THE TRUTH.

One last thing, they will cherry pick numbers like the Unemployment Rate. They will take the number of employed at the lowest level and claim to have created new jobs for every position filled claiming to have created 4 million jobs. Even then the lowest the employed number got was 139 million and today is 141.8 million. Only a 2.8 million increase. They don’t mention the 6 million jobs lost before the turnaround (that was because of Bush, they say). BOTTOM LINE THERE ARE 6 MILLION FEWER PEOPLE EMPLOYED TODAY EVEN THOUGH THE LABOR FORCE HAS GROWN BY 5.4 MILLION WORKERS.
